MSD 8106 points box

Mine died on the highway.......ran when i loaded in trailer, dead when i pulled it out a week later.

Can an 8106 be fixed Spud?

 Yup, something in the box "changed state". Ar Ar. (Electronics humor).

 You can call MSD, get an RMA, send it in, wait 2-3 weeks, pay 'em $100-$200 and away you go.

 Or, you could send it to FIE. There are a couple of common issues in them that we can fix here. If it isn't one of those things, we send it off to an independent electronics guy that repairs them for us...generally it goes and returns inside of 2 weeks without a problem. We re-test when it comes back to confirm it's working correctly and send it back to you. $100-$200 is usually the bill.

Don't forget that MSD will say nothing was wrong with the box (which now works) but still charge you for the trouble of looking at it.

Is that common if it goes to MSD?

We ran the car in July, ran perfect.  Put it in the trailer, took it out a month later and it wouldn't start.
