My shop has recovered (thanks for the well wishes. I am starting my FED Jr Fueler project back up. I am using TF specs on this chassis no telling where it will end up. It has a 225" wheelbase with the engine out 50 inches. Should I fasten the bottom part of the mid plate to the frame? Seems like a good idea but I have never seen anyone do it. If the mid plate is fastened in four points it seems like it would support the frame better. I could be wrong. Let me know what you think I have thick skin.

I think it is best to have a chassis upright in close proximity to the block plate, with an attachment at both the top rail and bottom rail.

I read that putting the motor plate upright right next to mid plate will help seal the cockpit from fire. So it is ok to attach the bottom of the plate to the lower frame rail?

My rear plate is attached to the lower rails. Simple tab with a nut and bolt

Ok Thanks for the reply. I am going to go ahead and attach it at the bottom. The chassis is moving along pretty good, trying to get it done before the heat of summer hits. Attaching the front axle today and finish the K. I am just one 22" piece of 1-1/4 short to finish the K member, not sure the best place to get it. Years ago I used the Chassis Shop, probably use them again for that one piece among other parts. My sticking point now is how long to make my 9" housing and figure out how long the axles should be. My wheels have 4 back spacing. Jon is going to help me pick out a tire today.

My suggestion. Call Neil and Parks. Talk with Frank and/or Scott. They not only sell every piece you will need. They will giv you ton of advice. Heck I spent almost hour talking with Frank first time I called them and got ton of info and had not spent a dime with them yet.https://neilparks.com/.

They sell housing kits and in all honesty not much more than cost of materials and all the engineering is done.

I have been using N&P for a lot of parts and blueprint and I like both of them. I always feel like I am bugging people asking questions lol. I do like this bench racing that we are doing to get this thing built. I want to do something really cool on the very front like an eagle beak out of tubing. I split a 1-5/8 tube and welding it to the ends of my main frame rails and then lay the tube front axle in that half tube and weld it up. Then do the beak in front of that and use the beak as a tow hook. Not sure how I woud make that happen. Just an idea.

Yes 1.25 upright with a plate/tab that goes from the top tube to the bottom tube that also is welded to all three tubes top rail, upright, and bottom rail

The middle bolt would be largely redundant, i.e., not stressed hardly at all and unnecessary.
