Sure!
I run a 2.91 rear gear in my Ford 9". It was impossible to find a Pro gear in that ratio that would fit. I called Richmond and talked to an engineer there. He pointed me to a 2.91 street gear and told me how to "draw it back" or anneal it to help it resist cracking and breaking.
Put the ring and pinion (no bearings on it of course) on a cookie sheet. Put it in the kitchen oven and turn it on to 500F. Let it bake 2-3 hours...it MUST reach 500F in the middle for a while. When the time has elapsed, turn the oven off and leave it to cool down slowly over night. DON'T OPEN THE DOOR. Just turn it off, walk away and come back tomorrow.
They will have changed color...don't worry, normal. That means it worked!
I'm still running those gears and they look great.
