Anglia spindles
« on: November 03, 2014, 03:55:22 AM »
I have new MW Anglia spindle.  The kingpin is a very tight fit in the axle boss, to the point it needs to be hammered in with a soft hammer and punched out.  I believe the bushes had been reamed when the axle was built, however I'm concerned the kingpin will mushroom getting beaten in and out during mock-up etc and axle boss will most likely need to be reamed after chroming.  What size reamer should I use for a MW Anglia spindle ?

They make an adj hand reamer and that is what you should use to creep up on the finnished size. 17MM is "around" the finnished size (11/16 to the rest of us). The reamer I have expands with a turn of a screw on the bottom, give it a little twist and it pushes the blades out, always sneak up on sizeing as its hard to put material back in. If you feel that the constant R & I will beat up the KP's, just machine up a dummy set a .0005 (or till they fit)smaller

Or a little heat on the boss I would prefer to keep the boss fairly snug.
