Hey Chuck466:
I read your previous post.
Is it Alcohol fuel?
If it was on my dyno I would start conservative at 24* and slowly work up.

Wanted to buy / Re: 15x12 wheels

wideopen231:
Did you find any wheels?
I was looking at new weld Aluma-star or Prostar wheels.
I am stunned at the price compared to a couple years ago.
I'm also wondering what's available used. 15 x 12 / 3.5" BS / 5x5 bolt circle.

Go with Injection.
It's not that hard and there is plenty of help here.

Many years ago ATI would tell us that 5% slip was a good convertor.
This was years before data recorders became common.
He used to figure it out with the Moroso slide rule.

Matt Shaff's Engine Shop / Re: Zoomies vs collector headers
« on: January 03, 2022, 02:41:35 PM »
About 4-5 years ago we tested collector headers VS zoomies on our dyno.
540ci BB Chevy engine. Tunnel ram with 38sq inch Crower blower hat on alcohol.
The engine made just over 900 HP with the collector headers. No mufflers or extensions of exhaust pipe. Just like on the race car.
We made about 3 pulls and then swapped to the zoomies. These were long tube Gasser/Pro-Mod style zoomies. Same tube diameter.
Lost 40 HP.
The zoomies still went on the car because the cool factor out weighed the 40 HP.
The car sounds better and barely lost a 10th. For us it's all bracket racing anyway.

 I'm following this thread.
Most of us are bracket racing. I use tubes because every time I opened the trailer door one or both slicks would be soft or flat.
Tubes fixed that but I'm always wanting to get more out of our stuff.
Thanks: Matt

Funny Cars / Re: Funny Car Chaos

It is a great race series if your a spectator or racer.
We went to the Texas Motorplex last March for the series opener.
It was a great show. They also ran the TDRA series and a Gasser program the same weekend.
It was cool to see so many Funny Cars at one race.
Looking forward to the 2022 series.

That's too bad because my Lenco still weighs the same.  ;D

Front Engine Dragsters / Re: power glide or direct drive

I run a 10" two disk CrowerGlide and a two speed Lenco.
It's fun to run. I encourage you to give it a try!
You need to learn how to adjust it and maintain it.
I did the clutch on a big show nitro F/C for several years so I was comfortable with the workings.
Several early BB/FCs ran CrowerGlides in the 70's. The pedal clutch won more races but the Glide is easy on engine parts.
Get on the Crower clutch website .
https://www.crower.com/media/pdf/CrowerGlide.pdf
It is good reading to give you a basic outline.

A good place to start is a detailed description.
Include things like wheelbase,
How far the engine is out (center of rear axle to mid plate)
How wide the chassis is in the driver compartment.
Set up for what engine?
Rearend brand and gear ratio. Wheel and tires sizes are helpful.
How old it is and include chassis updates.
Is it currently certified.
Also list things like what extra's are included. Headers, firesuit and even what shifter it has.
If you can't load pictures, include your cell phone number. Everyone has a cell phone to receive pictures.
And of course how much $$$

Jaychalmers:
I'm getting back in action after a year.
How did your gear drive work out?
I've built many with genuine Pete Jackson gear drives. Also many with Milodon gear drives with the cast cover.
Once Pete died the copy cat crap started to show up on the market.how yours worked out
We had ONE failure on the dyno with a cheap gear drive. Never used another again.
We have used the Milodon's when we need to mount a Enderle or Hilborn pump off the camshaft.
Let us know how yours worked out.

Hey KiwiKid:
Any updates on how your clutch is working?
The only information I didn't see was the gear split on your two speed.
A large spread can try and pull the engine down and cause extra slip / wear on your pack thickness.
