Went to the dyno with my friend to dyno his new comp motor . This is by far the best one he has built yet . We made 9 pull's and this thing is killer ! 324 cubes and 940 hp at 9700 rpm That's 2.9 hp per cube and that's with regular oil the good race oil is worth another 8 to 10 hp .
-
Just what D1 needs...another killer comp car! I'm assuming it is Billy's. Where did you find a dyno that will go to 10K?
-
Yes Billy and I are pretty exited about this We should be able to get our record back We will be ready for the Englishtown points race . We dyno at Frank Iaconio's shop in NJ.
-
That's insane power compared to my junk, my gosh !
-
Impressive H P per CID! Curious what is the $$$$$$ per CID. I spoke with one legal JR fuel car owner this year who quoted $47,000 price on a 23 degree SBC . Thanks. George

Man 47k in 23*sbc.I guess I'll have to stick with aluminum hemi junk.may limit class' I can run but cost is right, already sitting here. Wonder what Parks had in the 383 that Scott ran 6.77@197 with? I know the cars light but those numbers do not come cheap.

Was at Bill's shop yesterday . He has his no2 motor apart .He wants to make it better than his no1 motor . That's what I love about Comp eliminator alway's trying for more!
-
Bill whet Speed/ET does he run and what Et/Speed does it generally take to get into comp eliminator? Trying to find a place I can fit for next year.
-
Comp has many classes from 4cyl dragsters to supercharged altereds . All classes are weight to cubic inch and run on an index system with handicap starts .As an example I will use B econo dragster . It is 4.0 lbs per cubic inch so if the motor is 350 cubes the car has to weigh 1400lbs minimum and runs of an index of 7.47 and to be competitive you need to be able to run 5 or 6 tenths quicker than your index . As someone said earlier you need a boatload of money to be competitive in Comp so I would reccomend you start out in some sort of bracket class . Hope I didn't confuse you. Bill
-
If I used that 4.0lbs to cube I'd have to add 400lbs to the car :o.
We are trying to find a class that we can fit that is in the low 7 range. We will probably run PRO 7.0 or slow it down for NE1 in the Heritage series. Hoping to find something for the regional and national events.
We have been running with a top fuel family driving and wrenching on the dragster and wrenching on the Funny car, yes speed costs money and sometimes lots of it.
We are a few months away from running our blown 445 cube aluminum Buick in the car. A lot of the parts are custom made but we have many parts that are Ford, Chrysler and Chevy high end race parts to keep prices down and make availability better. That engine is definitely a cubic dollar engine.
Thanks for the info
John

That 7.0 pro class looks like a great place to race . I would love to step mine up to run 7.0 but I think this season I am going to run the 7.50 class!

Scotty says about $50,000 for his motor top to bottom. You can stick your fist in the intake ports once he's done with them. He spends an amazing amount of time grinding on the block to take weight off. The heads are good for about 3 years then the epoxy starts breaking down and they have to be redone. Crankshafts weigh in at 36 lbs. and use Honda size big end for the rods.
-
Again rule number 1. It only takes one thing to go fast MONEY. Even the smart guys have to spend lots of it to go fast.
Rule number 2 you may get by rule 1 for very short time but it will apply.Going fast breaks the best of parts.

what kind of induction- nitrous, turbo, or blower?
Last comp car tuned on was 396 sbc injected methanol, had 888hp.

-
