Title: Looking for a lost dragster Dos Palmas Machine Spl. AA/GD
Post by: GlennLever on April 04, 2013, 11:29:26 AM
Hi Glenn, I have been looking for my old dragster. It was the Dos Palmas Machine Spl. AA/GD that I ran in England in 1964 as part of the U.S.Drag Team. I sold the car in England but it made it’s way back to the east coast some 40 years ago. I have attached  a picture of the car. If you need more I would be happy to send them.
FYI. I also was a member of the 65 and 66 U.S.Drag Teams. The 65 team went back to England where I ran a new Kent Fuller car with a blown Chrysler TF car. In 1966 I repowered the car with the first Blown Big Block Chevy. I ran it in Australia that year. I have now restored the car and it is in Australia. It will be coming back to the U.S. to be displayed at the Bakersfield meet and then on to the NHRA museum for awhile before returning to Australia.
Hope you can help.
Thanks
Bob Keith

What is the story?

Actually the car itself was not found but recreated. Bob had rebodied the car after the overseas trips in the 1960's and had stored the original body in the spare bedroom at his house. He eventually hooked up with Aussie journalist Lex Swaynn who had a new chassis built to re create the car. The links will take you to some of the various stories about Bob and Lex's adventure.

I'm confused as usual.

The dates in the articals precede the date that I received the e-mail from Bob Keith?

The hidden Valley link http://www.speedcafe.com/2011/05/23/winternationals-to-host-history/ (http://www.speedcafe.com/2011/05/23/winternationals-to-host-history/) says June 10-13 –  but no year

this picture has a date of 2013 in the lower left corner

Was the e-mail I received on April 04, 2013 a hoax?

Is he looking for his original car? not the re bodied car?

If it's for sale you can drop it off in Oklahoma!   LOL

So now we have another Crozier, Baltes, Lavato scenario where the car was re-popped (in this case using the original body at least) and then the original was finally found.

Paul Stage's original AA/C car is currently being restored in central Florida, by one of Paul's friends. The last "in progress" pictures I received looked pretty good.   Regards, Chase

Paul's car was absurdly clean, and fast! Typical Rockford, Il. vehicle. I was really devastated to find out it had been sitting in a trailer about 10 miles from me for nearly 40 years. What a find...  Chase

All there, but decades of Florida heat, salt air, corrosion, rust, cracked/warped fiberglass. A real project, but it's in good hands.   Chase
