Title: SMALL BLOCK CHEVY HEAD

MATT,
removed the heads and on the exhaust side on the flat side of the head is a very dark almost black, 1/2 to 3/4 inch around the valve that almost looks burn. is this  very lean or normal the flames are a very pretty blue at night. also this is a dry block and heads

second is there a way to see if there is a crack in the  2 oil galleys in the block.

Cast iron heads, right?

Before any answer we need some more info.
Is it cast iron heads?
Can you post a picture?

sorry yes they are cast  running on budwiser

 second ? this motor has lost # 7 and 8 rod bearings 3x I'm sure it a oil problem, trying to find out why, this time  it melt them can u say hot
just for fun if you where at hrr @ bg  this year you say it smoke the bearings they thought he was on fire!!

heads? we think it was just carbon, they clean up in the dishwasher  ??? never seen this before again thanks
