Title: Car burped getting too warm

I was running on a 1/8 mile this weekend and the runs were less than fifteen minutes apart. car got hot on one run and shot a burst of  water out my recovery tank, freaked me out, I though it was spraying  methanol but it was just water. With water in the block should I have it completely closed? What is the best remote water pump to get? I'm considering putting a small rad in it.

A river rat boat pump is driven off the cam drive and the fuel pump bolts to it.Brengan Murry performance motorsports is making them now
