How much oil do you recomend for a sbc with a Milodon 31145 pan?

Milodon states that this pan is 7qts plus the filter. We ran  this pan with 8qts in our blown SBC running 6.60's. I have also run this pan with 6qts in a lower HP application.
I do have one of these oil pans for sale granted it does come with all the parts between the pan and intake.......lol,

I already have one  ;)
But was not sure how much oil to fill in it. This is not a very high power engine. Injected alky. Not highest cr around. I'll try 6qts + filter then, should be safe?

I have used 7 total with good results--When we ran 8 total she would spit a little out one breather at high RPM--either way you will be OK but 7- to 7 1/2 will do just fiine IMO

I have run the same pan for several years . 8 quarts total with the spin on filter.

If you guys could share some wisdom... this is an old question I have:

With drag racing in mind, wouldn't a rear sump oil pan (like Milodon 31167 (http://www.milodon.com/oil-pans/drag-race-sbchevy-oil-pans.asp)) be preferred over a full length (flat bottom) pan? If seems to me that it would be easier to keep the pickup tube immersed with the rear sump one, with possibly lower oil level.

Thank you,
