For those running the D2585 on a 12" rim at race pressure, what clearance is "safe" between body panel and slick surface?
-
Can not say about that combo, but when I was questioning same thing. The general concensus was 1". I ended up calling Parks for a set of 1/2" spacers, mainly because his are lightest and fit mutiple BC patterns.

With our Heritage JrFueler,we only have 1/2" clearance with no problems, keep in mind the D2585 GY are very light, 22.6 lbs, and grow with RPM, and the tire gets high from the sidewalls, so at speed the tires pull away from the body.
BTW my GoodYear Special Order of D2585's, 31x12x15 are in stock now and we are shipping this week.
Call me, 800-624-3803, or Email, jchansen60@gmail.com, if you would like any.
My next GY Special Order they are building now is D1288, 33x12x15 and should be able to ship next month.

I try to build my cars with around 1/2" of clearance--better to be a bit tight and able to add spacers than have that 'Wide Track by Pontiac" look. :)

Would I do that??? :) Nope, I just remember that in the 60's that was one of their advertising themes and they did have noticeably more track width than the comparable Chevys.
