Howdy
I bought 3/4 of a car in May '2013. Since then with the help of a mate I front halved the chassis it was 185" wb now it's 155". I've built an injected 366 Chrysler small block and a mate built a short Torqueflite trans. I have 4.56 gears in a 31 spline 9" and 31" tyres. In total there is 47 inches of wiring in the car. I have fired the engine and all seems well. I'm an old school guy and have done everything here at home and what I haven't done has been done by some like minded mates - lots of cut and shut, ground, weld and modified here rather than speed shop blister pack parts. All I have left to do is build some side panels and a cowl but I have run out of steam. I'm going to send it out to a shop for that but I just don't seem to have any enthusiasm left. How do you guys get over these motivational humps?

Go to the race track! Sometimes it's good to take a break - especially when it's all work and no fun. For me I enjoy working on mine as well as racing it.

Yes,go to the track and if they have a few FED, that will get your blood going. Talk to the owners and watch run,then you can't wait to get your car done. Goodluck ;)

For me a good tidy up, and writing a few lists. Tick those jobs off one by one till they're gone.

We enjoy a winter season so more shop time less honey do list.Do have a few buddys that race also so bench racing is a mover for me also.Im also spend time looking over old pic and vidios for ideas.There is always the sit in the car and make engine noises.haha

It just snowed here today, 6 inches of fresh snow. So to keep me motivated I called up my buddy Craig who is building another S and W FED and opened the garage door and fired up my dragster for the first time, burnt 2 1/2 gallons of methanol just listening to it.

OK think I've found the answer. Had a mate of 40 plus years and crewman over today. Sat him in the car and fired it up. Set the ignition and wondered about the fuel settings. Burnt a few gallons of fuel, happy with how aggressive the engine sounded and now feeling great.
