Paul New:
That is a beautiful car! Great job!
coupemerc:
Yes, it looks beautiful. How is it running? Nice job!
FredsSpeedShop:
Thanks. We have only done some licensing passes so far but everything worked and it went straight and pulled up good. The last run went 5.2 @119 at 1/2 track. The only thing that was a concern was that it pulls forward a bit when in neutral. What is a normal idle rpm?
coupemerc:
My idle is about 2500 RPM and there are specific reasons for that. I don't know your combination but you probably don't want or need your idle that high. There's a pretty good thread on this site (maybe Spud's area?) that gets into idle speeds a bit. The car should not creep at all in neutral. Is it a powerglide? With a brake? Check your shift linkage adjustment, your high clutch may be applied or your low band is stuck. You probably want to post that question on Dan Dishon's Den. Good luck...cool car!
THE FRENCHTOWN FLYER:
My altereds creep when the oil is cold - usually a foot against the front tire will stop them. When they warm up it mostly disappears so I attribute it to drag on the pump and internal rotating pieces, with maybe a little mis-alignment at the block plates. Mine idle at 1800 in neutral. It hasn't affected trans life or so it seems to me.
