What is a good gear ratio for a 1600lb 400hp fed car is just for fun

<< < (2/3) > >>

ricci32:
M&h 29.5  15x7 rim.

dreracecar:
1600# w/ 400hp direct(no loss) ET is between 9.5-9.80
general assumtion is that its around 140-145 mph
30" tall tire @7000 running @ 145mph  would put you at a 4:30

PSweeney:
I'd put wheelbase and trans braked box in the mix to.   A short car with a braked 3sp box on 4.30's will be lively.   Also depends what the useage of the car would be.  For a bracket car, I'd run taller ratio to tame the launch and give you the legs for a big end charge.

dreracecar:
Its a bracket car, dial in for consistecy and leave first ---hard to beat

hotrod316:
we run 33" x 10.5, 456, gear 8 3/4 rear, with a  sb chey very stock, hyd cam 6000 at the big end, 138 mph 9:50 on a 9.50 index. 1450 lbs race ready.
33% pure fun 8) about 2 tens more
