I finally found an 23 altered in my price range, the only question is that it has not been certified in 5 years.  it was certified for 7.5.   will  this recertify?

It should, but you might have to add some bars, and might have to mount the wing differently.

Nothing has been added to the spec for the chassis, wing mounts are a concern tho, but one really does not need a wing, just a fancy place to put the cars number.  Bring ALL your driving gear and suit up as you were making a pass, and sit there belted in for 30 minutes, if you dont fit or need to get out---pass

A noted A/A racer once told me if you are not going 200 mph wings are a waste of time and the increased downforce will not over come the losses associated with aero drag .

Brianm.  Make sure your 460 Ford Bell housing fits in the chassis as the 460 ford wont fit in many cars that were built for a Chrysler Hemi.

I agree with what someone here said make sure the cage is more than big enough. I would add that many have a small cage and you can not hardly give those cars away because so few people fit in them. Resale value is much better with larger cage.

To the OP did you get a car yet?

I've seen some home built altereds that would certify to 6.0.
I've also had the experience of watching a guy die in his when it disintegrated in the lights.
If you have good welding and fab skills -and a well equipped shop - you can do it.
On my latest S/P car I just let Advanced Chassis (Antwerp OH) do it faster and better.
