Pics of FED I'm picking up Sunday

<< < (11/26) > >>

JeffV8:
I ordered 2 old mags from Amazon and eBay 1965 CARS mag and a 1967 Hotrod mag, with articles on Woody Gilmore and his dragster frames. Looking and reading thru them Today I am now 100% sure what I have. In one pic the parachute brackets were identical to mine, on the Jerry Ruth top fuel car pics it shows the throttle mount and is exactly like mine.

It also calls "Ruth" car a Dial-A-Bite car. Which is the same as mine..

I'm still looking for who owned it in the early 70's and the find out who he got it from.. If that dose not work I might enter it in our local world of wheels car show with a sign asking if anyone recognizes it.

Paladin AA/FA:
This is from Dragzine;

"Ruth, like so many others of the era, began his racing career at a young age, racing various gas coupes and sedans along with his late brother, John, in the late 1950′s and early 1960′s in their native Washington state. In 1963, with the bug to go faster, Jerry purchased a Chevy gas dragster from the Bier brothers of southern California and campaigned it in the A/GD ranks before experimenting with nitro later that season. In early 1964, Ruth teamed up with Danny and David Higgins and purchased a Woody Gilmore-built Top Fueler that present day NHRA chief starter Rick Stewart had piloted to a number of race victories. The wins soon came, as did a series of Gilmore-built cars and later several constructed by Don Long."

Both Ruth and Rick Stewart are still around.  You might want to give them a call.

Here's a Draglist article about Ruth.  Lots old photos and says Ruth is still looking for his Woody Gilmore car.  Maybe you have it??????

Paladin AA/FA:
Ruth said it was his favorite car.
