Ford 300" 6 cylinder to PG trans
old28:
Looking for some help on a motor/trans combination. It will be install in a vintage style HAMB dragster like I have.
Is there an after market adapter bellhousing that will mate a Ford 300" 6 cylinder motor to a race PG trans? What about the flexplate (size & teeth).

old28 - try this, page 24. http://www.racewithjw.com/JW-12-Catalog.pdf
Bellhousing got sfi cert too. Available at your local speed shop for around $380 (jeg's has free s&h right now). The flexplate available too, with small block ford crank flange bolt pattern and uses chevy torque convertor with 3 bolt pattern. You can find the flexplate brand new with sfi cert on ebay for under a $100, I think scat makes them. Surely nice as this setup fits together easily and is safe. Uses stock ford starter too. DF

Thanks for the information, do you know what the flexplate # is? I found a TCI # 890-529625 at Jegs and Summitt for $139 and a couple on Ebay for the same price. I think you should be able to get the correct unit SFI for a better price.

Great to see another 6! Nothing wrong BTW with a C4 behind a 300 as well. Was involved with a very successful one for many years. Of course I am so old I remember when the chevies ran clutchflites and I was involved with a FED with a 300 Ford that had one too now that I think about it.
Don
never understood this powerglide thing

old28 - you probably already know but you want the “internal balance” flexplate for the Ford 300. And select the 157 teeth, small block ford (289ci/302ci) for the ultrabell (has the same bell housing bolt pattern as the Ford 300). With your 200 plus hp, should be good trouble free setup for you…
Don, clutchflites are 3 spds, I think a powerglides a 3 spd, first second and reverse : ) DF
