Not planing on checking valve lash with-out taking the fuel system apart ?, I agree with fuel pump location will be a problem.

Getting fuel lines and pump set up. Getting close.
Nice job on that mirror finish on the motor plate!

finished detailing the old girl for a stint in a Museum. she's been sitting covered up in my garage for years, better she sits where  she can be viewed, enjoyed and maybe teach a thing or two to some  of the young  dudes about how they got it done in the early days.

I think I've finally got my 180" FED ready for an initial outing.  Below are some learnings and modifications made since I bought the built but never raced car earlier this year:
New slicks and tubes (Hoosier 14.5 x 32.5")
     New safety belts
Installed a gasoline primer system to improve starting
     New starter
Converted to a 16 volt system (battery & charger)
     Replaced bad launch controller
Cleaned out jets, lines and nozzles
Removed 19° caster from the front axle (41° to 22°)
     Removed friction from steering system:
Straightened bent shaft from steering wheel to box.
Loosened, drilled and pinned the nut on the idler arm.
Replaced rod ends on the tie rods (seized and/or tight balls).
Modifed the transfer arm to remove drag (replaced standard bolt with a shoulder bolt)

I will be going to National Trails Raceway outside of Columbus, Ohio on Wednesday July 26th.  I hope to post some pictures soon.

Thanks to all of you folks who answered my newbie questions.
Jim

Ran it last night at a test and tune. Finally got it into the 4's.( 1/8 mile) Granted only a 4.96 but I've been at 5.00 for the last two outings. Now it's time to start on a real race motor.

Hello,

I’m running an online survey for a research project, as I want to learn more about consumer decisions when it comes to buying an auto engine in the USA. The survey is short, extremely easy, and consists of opinion-oriented answers that are based on your personal experience of buying an.

I’d be extremely grateful if you could help me out by taking 5 minutes of your time to complete the survey? I will pay you a $10 gift card (by email) uponsurvey completion and I will also share my evaluation report, which may be able to help you with future purchases and give you good color of the industry in general.
