Looks like your combination would be happier running 8.0 instead of 8.5.
The fuel pressure is getting kind of low and you could make that kind of boost
with a 4-71.

Yes you are right, however the bottom end is a compromise. it is the engine that I ran last year with the carb. The cam and compression is all wrong for the blower and I want it to survive this season so that I can build a true blower engine next winter. When I do I will build for a 7.00 index engine

Spring Nostalgia race at Central Illinois Dragway have been canceled. :'(   RAIN!

 Friday's Test and tune resulted in our car running a best of 1.10 60' 5.10 et @ 136 mph.

We got invited to a match race at Cameron MO. next Saturday. Three runs with the blower cars.  ;D ;D ;D

Yesterday after finishing the new trailer I actually did a few small things on my 318 Poly FED.
Plan to spend a couple of hours a day finishing the welding and steering. We will see how that goes. Also have to finish the headers from my HB slnt six tunnel ram.  I was tempted to leave things as they are but even the BB block are just getting by me 4 to 5 normal car lengths. Sometimes I feel I could almost reach over and slap them. Biggest restirction now on the slant six is the intake manifold. (old Offy which is untuned and not equal length and a bit  small (or was). New tunnel ram uses two 500 Holley 2 brlls and is tuned for 6000RPM with a genous taper from plenum to port. Because of the way it fits I have to make a whole new set of included headers to go with it. I have made a good stab at it but it will get about 1 hr per day till done. If I can squeeze 40 hp extra( which may be too generous to expect)I can spank these BB lads heads up (again!). I want everything working perfect BEFORE I go to the track so I had better get to it.

It's a very handy tool and it was easy to build . I used 2inch wide flat stock and welded spacers in between  It wiil fit most any trans pan  or rear end chuck . The round tube is the same size as my engine stand so it will fit that as well . It's one of those tools you don't use that often but when you do it makes the job a lot easier

I worked through my intake and exhaust rocker geometry, worked out my pushrod lengths, pretty much finalized my piston domes and trial fitted my injector. It's been a few long nights. I even managed to pick up a 1957 392 hemi for short money this weekend. Cheers to all the Veterans!!!!

Did some welding on a chassis but spent most of the afternoon working on my tunnel ram. Opened up the exhaust flange to take a poke through header pipe. The header pipes will be welded to a 1/8 th steel rail  , upper and lower that fits the attchment holes . This will allow me to tighten the headers so they wont leak.
Got two fitted but had enuf for the day.

I went to Bowling Green over the weekend to crew on Mark Vaught's 7.0 car at the NDRL race. Too quick on both qualifiers as the track was killer and so was the air. Running a pair of 6.9 laps (second one at only 169 MPH) put Mark in the bottom half of the field and he drew Robbie Freels in round one. They were both late on the tree but Robbie was better and won with a 7.06 to Mark's 7.04.
