Well with the world shut down I took advantage and spent little extra money on the gal. Got her some new rods. Old ones only had 10 runs but they where in my TA/D combo and with 10500 rpm shifts ans 6500 leave plus good dose of 50 lbs boost. I figured better safe than sorry or thats the idea anyway. Getting some new lifters for her next,just another peace of mind thing.  At least if I break either I know its nott because I short cut something and used an over used part.

Greensboro Drag Expo . Mid February. Yes in NC.  I am the guy who forgot to bring a chair and using the slick as seat.LOL

I found out how to totally fry the clutches out of it. You screw up on shift cable adjustment and attemp to leave at 5500 with it between  low and hi. When a screw up I do so at full speed. Got to loive this sport or just be nuts.

Pulled FED out of trailer and into shop.Drained fluids and pulled trans and engine out otday. Pulling 3rd member tomorrow and starting lowering powertrain to give chassis more ground clearance. Motor will only go 1.5" before chassis and heads are touching, going 1.25".Rearend will do that with moving it forward 1". The anti rotation tube I had will conveniently removing tube will allow tabs on rear end to align with bottom center tube and I can weld in a threaded boss thru it and bolt rear end. xxxx bunc of work to remove cpl ounces.LOL

1.25" may not sound like much but it is 50 % increase in clearance at mid plate. If tires on car don't workout and I change I will go with 33 tall set giving me another 1/2".

Not much going on here lately.....
I took our car out of the corner hibernation zone after 3.5 years on its roller rack. Got it cleaned up Saturday and brand new 6.0 cert at New England Dragway Sunday. With the exception of one needed additional kidney bar the car even passed NTF 5.99 quicker.  I'll get the bar added when I find someone in Maine, New Hampshire, or Massachusetts to add it and set of canard wings this year.
The new engine is finally moving forward again. We will be in Bowling Green next month for the Buick GS Nationals with the iron block still in the car. New engine should be running by the end of June.

Working on the car this week.  We are getting ready for the New England Nationals at Epping NH June 11-13. We were invited to be one of the cars in the Cackle area.  We may even make a few passes during the Event. Should be fun, as it was in 2019.

Finished up putting my little, mild 305 Chevy together a few days ago and firing it up on a stand to break in the cam. After enough run time to (hopefully) break in the cam I took off the manifolds I was using to manage the direction of the exhaust a bit better and installed the 1 5/8" Zoomies I built. That added a bit more bark to the sound of the little 305 "Mouse Motor". 8)

I guess building the Powerglide might be next and then back to finishing up the chassis. I needed a little break from fabricating and welding. I hope to get the car to the strip by mid season, but the pace might have to pick up a bit. Then again I think I've made pretty good progress, considering this is my first rodeo, and going from building a frame jig table and a having a pile of tubing on the floor to where I am since sometime around November '21.

Well all local tracks closed events due to the weather forecast.  Plus I ad a strange noise in rear end yesterday. Pulled it and found nothing.Since I wasa there I figured might as well do something I have been wanting to do for awhile. I made cpl plated that fit inside the housing and reduced space and volume of gear oil, which just happens to weigh 16 oz per quart.

 ReASSEMBLE EVERYTHING AND WHEN FILLED TO SAME LEVEL AS BEFORE I WAS ABOUT HALF AS MUCH OIL AND ALMOS 2 QUARTS less 2 vs 4 and half way up pinion bearings. Figure 3 to 3,5 lbs off the car for zero dollars and cpl hrs work. Normally cosr close to 100 per lbs so 300 bucks worth of weight.

Also relocated few trans cooler libes and misc. little things. Just relaxing day tinkering

Had to rework wheelie bar. A side effect of raising chassis for ground clearance the wheelie bar being 5' behind axle centerline really gets up there. I can get it down to 2 inches but zero adjustment left  and  Little thread left to support with the hit. I wanted to rework anyway

I finished the welding on my chassis today. About 12 to 14 hours total time TIG welding. Still some Dzus tabs to weld to eventually mount the body (just from front of engine back) and the seat/interior. Pleased that the chassis still sits flat on the frame jig, so I guess all of the moving from side to side to "mirror weld" it paid off. Seems 80% done, but I know it's about 90% to go. Really beginning to doubt it will be finished before the track closes here in October.
