That is one of the scariest thing I have ever seen at a drag strip .From what I understand he broke a couple of ribs and other than that is ok . It looks like something may have been sticking with the throttle .

From what i've heard, and this is just heresay, the throttle was hanging in the pits, and they decided to make a hit.  When it took off in reverse, he grabbed the shifter (powerglide) instead of the hand brake.  when it hit the wall, the throttle when down and hung there.

You can here the high idle at the end of the burnout, producing the rapid reverse and steering whip.

Scary stuff for sure!!!

The drivers son posted on the Classic Funny Car Board ,that he passed out from the heat ,last thing he remembered was going into reverse, The son wasn't very happy with the team his dad was driving for,, With good reason!!,, If your gonna play with Nitro you better have your S**T together, Could have turned out alot worse,,   Tim Jones
