I'm a Ford guy. A couple of years back, I saw some old stagger bolt sbc offy valve covers, and thought they belong on a FED. So, I bought them. Yesterday, I bought an ALGON sbc fuel injection intake.

So much for brand loyality.

I'm a Ford guy, racing partner is Mopar for sure and we have a SBC in the car.

 It's a good compromise.

amazing how some of you are getting so much smarter with age.If not for having 3 tfx-92 hemi's sitting here and shelf full of parts I would have small or bi chevy in my fed.

I've got a Ford 300 I6 I thought about using, but when the SBC Algon Injection presented itself, well, even though it'll be another sbc setup, it'll be different. 

Got some old Cragar slots yesterday for the project.

Even though I'm a multi year build due to funds, I'm stoked!

Oh Glenn, so far I'm collecting parts, not building. 

A buddy is driving up to Alaska next summer, so my building efforts won't start until next winter. I plan on loading him up with stuff that's hard to come by up here. 

This winter I'm planning on mocking up the cockpit in wood / plywood so I can order up the bends. That way I'll know what I'll fit and not mess up the bend order.

Watchin' grass grow would be more productive that watching things "progress" with me. LOL

I know how you feel . . . other than a wore out 283 that I rebuilt for a friend of mine to put in a XJ, I had never messed with chebby junk until the dragster.

I went the SBC/glide route because it was the cheapest and most period correct looking (motor anyways) for a 64/65 deal.

man a built 283 or 327 would be fun.I have 2 of each that are factory pieces(never been rebuilt). Loosing 243 cubes would be backing down a lot tho. I might build one after cars done to thro in for fun.

Tyler, my plan is a 3 speed saginaw. Might try to pull first gear out of it the way I hear the short track dirt guys do. Lever for reverse, and a lever for 2 & 3. To many sbc /glide combo's in the world already. 

Wideopen, I just want a front engine dragster to fulfil a lifelong dream.....Started down this road once before, and my ex got all my parts I had collected in the divorce. They're  sittin' in an rotten down old house on her father's farm.

I originally planned on limiting myself to a max of 301ci like JR Fuel back in the day. But if I end up with a 327, I'll keep it a 327.

I want to stay as vintage as possible with being able to run under IHRA rules. The local track is IHRA.

wonder how a 302 SBC would run in dragster.If you have never driven anything with one the moon is almost the limit rpm wise.If you can afford the valvetrain for the rpm it will wind them for ever.Had one in home built dune buggy 8500 rpm was nothing. Small crank would limit torque,so might not be fastest thing out there. It would be fun,which is why Im broke had lots of fun in life.

On a nitrous pass my car crosses at 9700 ! It sounds like an air die grinder!
