GY 2070 and 2078
wideopen231:
Looking at new slick options. In GY selection two look like possibilities. 2070 and 2078. Wondering if any here have tried either/or results and thoughts on them.
Use to be you could try a cpl different setups, sale off later and lose a little with cost increase you need second mortage to buy 2 or 3 sets of tires
Paul New:
I ran the D2070’s on my car for years had shake issues and when it did t shake my car would walk down the track not really that straight. Last year I switched to the 13.00 33.3 -16 M&H tires which are currently impossible to get. What I can tell you is with these stiffer side wall tires my car runs perfectly straight down the track. I recommend a finding a stiffer side wall tire then the D2070’s. My car runs 6.47-6.70 SBC with a 10” 2 disk and B&J 3 spd. I run with another FED powerglide car he has the MT big bubbas which I think are ugly on a FED (my opinion doesn’t matter) but it works great for him 6.90-7.0’s no shake
wideopen231:
The big bubbas are very popular with RED guys, not sure I have enough power to pull that tire on FED. I know FED's normally get down track better with less tire than a rqual power RED needs. Being a bracket car I have to be more concerned about consistency than fast. As life long tuner of heads up not putting fast first and foremost is hard as xxxx.

33x17x15 Mickey Thomson On my fed and it shook like crazy with 1000hp.
Changed to 33x10.5x15 and haven’t tried yet

I've seen a lot of people have good luck with the 10.5 or 10.5W slicks on their FED's.
