Can a mild steel FED get certified to 7.50

Hi everybody. I recently purchased a 225`` FED, I bought it for the drivetrain. This car was built with mild steel, tubing sizes and thickness are all correct. They did a nice job on the construction of the car. My question is can this car be certified to run slower than7.50 ? Im just looking to take it out every now and then and have a little fun ....It doesn't have to be extremely fast..... Thanks for your help !

Sure it can, why not. Mine just got fresh 7.50 tag last month. SFI has many variables based on FED construction style and what the various tubing sizes needs to be in each version of them.

Thanks Finnish Fireball, I thought it could but took a lot of razzing when I bought it. Quite a few people from a FED page on FB said I could never get it certified because it was mild steel . I just noticed you race in Finland ? I wonder if the rules are the same in the states ......

We utilize the exact same NHRA and SFI foundation rulebooks and specs here.

BK:
If it meets the spec it certifies. IHRA rule book lists both Chrome Moly and Mild Steel as acceptable materials.
Depending on how slow you may not need a cert.
Slower than 9.00 in the quarter, 6.00 in the eighth or under 150 you dont need a cert for IHRA>
