Burndown breather puke tank
THE FRENCHTOWN FLYER:
I see. After how many runs - gas or alky - do you generally have to pop the plugs and drain? Also, do you run electrical wiring through the lower tube(s) then?
dreracecar:
Just during normal car maintanence or after a blow-up. The right lower frame rail usually contains the front brake line and the fire bottle cable as those have to be shielded where they pass the clutch can/motor plate. I some cases,by the rules, all wiring must be exposed , even with that, trouble shooting a wiring/air line issue is a lot easier without running them inside the frame. Most builds run them thru tunnels in the motorplate uprites
THE FRENCHTOWN FLYER:
Thanks for the insight. It sounds like there is either not a lot of condensation taking place or the flow rate is high enough to purge all that glop from the frame.
My [unblown] altered has the wires inside the rail tubing (except trans brake), that's why I asked.
dreracecar:
You have to remember to pull everything out the tubing before you can weld repair. I told a customer to do that except he forgot one line, "Hey, do you smell something burning"?
Also you have to clean the vent tube real good before welding or it becomes a mess and the drain helps clear the solvent.
RacinJacin:
For you curious guys - here's what I ended up fabbing. Made pretty much everything even the breather because I struck out at the local swapmeets and I'm not a patient person sometimes. "AMF" is a tribute to my buddy Stan that helped me run the car from the beginnng until he passed. "Adios...."
If you look close at the tank you will see the end caps are domed. My press and a PVC CAP was all that was neeed to make those.
