Changing fuel pump.
« on: March 08, 2019, 07:49:10 PM »
Hi,I’m new here and I’m after some advice.
I run a 388cu sbf 3v heads, Pro Mag 12. The fuel system is a Bug, Enderle square barrel valve 80a.5, 30 nozzles and 56 main pill no high speed.Runs consistent 8.20’s, at the start of last season we could run a 60 main but as we got into the season it started to get a high speed miss so we fattened it up with the 56.
So here’s the question, a mate will sponsor me a Waterman 500 sprint pump which he has just had flowed for his 410 sprint car it has 6.4%loss, that’s what’s on the tag. Where should I start with the main and could I put a high speed on it?

A 60 to 56 isn't a lot of change. Just wondering what the weather was like with the new jet compared to the old.
Also did the jet change clear up the miss? If not did you check valve springs or Mag?

Just my 2 cent. I would have your pump flowed first off. Without knowing exactly what you had its almost impossible to say what you really need. You could take a guess and get in ballpark,if old pump flow is what is suppose to be,which it sounds like you are in question of.

Yeah the smaller jet cleaned up the miss. I was looking for the easy way out, there isn't.
The closest place to get it flowed is 4000km away. I'll bite the bullet at send the whole system away.
