Sounds like a good idea Jeff. With its iron case the FMX is pretty heavy, I've not weighed it yet !!! But yep make a cross member and rest the gearbox mount on it to help with the weight.

I had been told not to use rear transmission mount. But I do, sort of. I have the rear bolted down and the bolts are a little long ( Bottomed out) and the holes in the bracket are oversized so it can still move some and flex but it is limited.

 Nev er seen a trans mount in FED.Not that I am expert,but has to be reason. IMO doing so is just asking for problems.Be it busted case or chassis binding on launch and no working with crap. I agree FMX is heavy.

If it uses a coupler I wouldn't think its a problem. If it has a driveshaft you might consider a mount.

I race with a FED and he runs urethane mount on the back of his glide engine is out 52”.  Some cars are built with mounts
