case hole and transbrake valve alignment
« on: November 30, 2018, 05:58:13 AM »
First question why is there such a misalignment in the case hole and the piston for transbrake? I know GM screwed pooch first but man 60 years you would think someone would fix alignment.

Problem that got me hyper on this is. New valve body(aluminum) in JW case and piston is binding on case threads  making transbrake useless. Simple A&T engineering solution is grind inside of case.Meaning disassemble trans again for  4th or 5th time, never ran just keep finding deals on upgrades.

Are any of the after market case centered where valve bore and solenoid bolts in? Going to have to buy one sometime so if possible to get one where they are centered as would seem logical I would rather buy it.

Bill do you have a FTI aluminum valve body? Seems valve it self is about .10 larger diameter. JW case also seems to be thicker around solenoid which means more material inside. Easy fix is die grinder, just not how I like stuff fitting. Going to ati, reid or similar case later but that 1300 I don't have at moment since buying trailer tops the need list. The one I borrowed last year for while has since been sold for more than I wanted to put into it.

Trying to find out wieght of reid or ati and compare to jw case and bell. Have to run 2 piece because of hemi/glide combo.

still about 900 for case but if two piece its hits around 1200 to 1300. I think Jegs has the case for 700 so could be little less with shopping.

Its hard to mix manufacturers parts as they have "fixed" oem issues in their own way. I have modified a lot of valves over the years.
