running cable thru cage?
« on: October 31, 2018, 06:51:43 AM »
Can you run cable thru roll cage if you weld sleeve thru cage for it to pass thru? Looked around specs and rules but no help. Probably over looked or its covered under different rule. Other idea was running thru top rail and out back to chute.

I use McKinney's chute levers and the configuration puts the cables under the shoulder hoop so I sleeve the uprights. The overall package puts the butterfly, brake lever and chute levers all in the same horizontal plane.
I have seen a sleeved roll cage but that was on a car that was built in the early 70's and I would not want to argue with a tech guy about it in this day and age.

Yeah, I am from the south--any further south and I would have been a bloody penguin.

Mine pass thru  the uprights at my shoulder.  They have for 10 years.  My uprights have brake line welded in, for the cable to slide thru.  Never had an issue, been certed by many.  Lots of cars have it that way.  Pics if you'd like.
