Starting Battery Setups/Carts
opa1:
Looks like I'm going to have to make a battery cart with quick connects to start my injected FED. What voltages are be used? Former owner of my car uses 24vdc to spin it over quickly. Pic's of your setup would be nice. It will give me ideas on what I need to build.

im going to use my golf cart as battery supply to start the FED. no sense in spending a grand when you dont really have too. i think eventually it would be nice to have a separate kit if needed.. say for starting at home when the cart is in the trailer.
i think on the starters you can throw 48 at them, assuming its a blower type starter. just makes them spin faster. i have a chart from the person that built my starter showing starter type, voltage, and rpm.

Put a 12 volt battery in the car and use a block mounted starter. If its a MSD mag you might run a 16 volt battery. We use a Powernaster starter on 12 volts to start our 377 SBC w/6:71. We began with an external battery. Its a hassle unless you buy into the compact batteries.

When we had a block mounted starter on our car we used a TCI starter and two PC680 Oddysey batteries wired in series to create 24v this set up worked great for us for quite a few years

I have a new Braille 17 battery in the car and a hi-torque mini starter. It was enough to fire the car today. I might not need the starter cart. I did have to prime the pump by pressurizing the vent tube in the fuel tank. After that it started right up. I'll see how it does when I run the car. Thanks for the tips.
