SCE ICS Titan copper head gaskets
Ponti:
Hi all,
With all my time for reading etc, looking for parts and trying to work out combo's.
Has anyone used these ICS Titan head gaskets?
THE FRENCHTOWN FLYER:
Fel Pro performance series gaskets also use an internal wire sealing ring - pre flattened. Example: their #1024, which I use on my Ford sixes. Similar V8 part #s abound.
ricardo1967:
Unless dealing with something exotic or extreme, I'll never touch a copper gasket again, too much work, too many leaks (oil & coolant). I'm referring to standard cooper gaskets with o'ringed block. My N/A SBC uses Fel-Pro composite head gaskets now, no issues. If starting from scratch, I'd consider MLS (they require smoother surfaces though).
dreracecar:
You should not need copper on an injected motor anyway. MLS gaskets dont come solid and unless the decks are perfect they leak.
JrFuel Hayden:
We have been using Cometic multi layer head gaskets for ten years now with no problems on a 16.6 compression NA alky burner, 10,000 rpm SBC JrFueler. running water in block/heads with no leaks.
But we do use solid copper head gaskets in the early iron JF Hemi, at Gene Adams suggestion, but no water. But we do have to add some sealer around the water holes, because when we smoke tested it to look for better vacuum, it was leaking thru the water holes. When we smoked it it was confusing when we had a colum of smoke coming out of a zoomie stud hole that is in a water jacket.
One neat option Cometic offers is I have sent them my trimed intake gasket, and they will make a patern and a part number to order.
Cheers, Jon
