Powerglide Clutch Packs

Is there a limitation from a horsepower perspective for a 6 clutch pack / drum?  I've read that going to an 8 clutch pack can reduce the E.T.?  I see some manufacturers utilize a 7 clutch set up?  I'm contemplating upgrading to an aftermarket 1.80 gear set to replace the OEM 1.76, so I want to consider upgrading the clutch pack too.

I don't know much but you can get a kit that uses .060 thin clutch frictions and thin steels letting you to get more in a std drum--cut the piston in a lathe or buy one already done ( and billet) for reasonable and get more in there easy as pie  same principal as going from a 10 inch clutch to an 11 in a stick car--better et? I am thinking nah...just better holding power for all that rip snorting HP and TQ you have out front

6 or 7 is more than enough for most applications. I just freshened up a trans for the Pro 7.5 dragster for Pat Malloy 7 clutch high and it looked perfect. We ran an 8 clutch set up in the Blown Altered Nick use to drive, best ET was 6.52.
