Paint finishes
« on: September 20, 2016, 09:24:48 AM »
Hi , I'm looking to get hold of some paint to replicate two finishes. Firstly does anyone know how I can get that dark gold Matt colour for rear wheels the same as on some altereds back in the day, winged express springs to mind.  Secondly I'm looking for a paint to replicate the cast aluminium finish on blowers, my blower is polished and I want that Matt light grey slightly textured finish.

That's the very stuff, is there a paint that matches it?

the problem with trying to match the Dow 7 color is that the color is not the same all the way across the mag there are light and dark sections. My mag hat has changed over the years, I had it re-coated back in 02 or 03.

Check out Rocket Wheels. I believe that they may apply their Dow 7 coating to your wheels.

Could powder coating be an option on “polished aluminum” roots case if it’s available in desired “textured finish.”  Might cost more than paint, and not exclusively correct vintage-wise.  Powder coating is oil fuel solvent resistant which helps durability.
