Slick Temperatures Post Run

I know I read somewhere on the site regarding slick temperatures post run...I've started doing it routinely as it relates to air pressures.  Post run my temperatures on the edges are 150F and 138F in the middle of my D2585 Goodyear.  Not sure if this means under-inflation?

That tells me you are running under 6 lbs of tire pressure, to help keep the tires from dead hooking. What track temps are you racing ?
What rim width ? If you are running 10" rims that would pull the tires in a bit, which would help running higher MPH thru the lights because the 10" helps grow the tires, 12" helps more startline and mid track traction, but less tire growth .
We run 12" wide rims at 5 3/4 to 6 # pressure which gets me the highest temps, at the edges of 135°,[ I don't like that high of temps] running 1.04 to 1.06 sixty foot times on my D2585's, with track temps of 112° to 130°. I run a A-1 Trans 7" converter on my SBC and Hemi, with 8500 to 8800 stall. A looser converter helps keep the motor in the RPM range it wants to be at and helps hit the tires softer.
I check tire temps after the run to see if we are spinning too much during the run. With track temps of 74° to 86° I get 115° with 1.04 to 1.05 sixty times. Running 7.01 to 7.10 @ 188 to 190 mph, in Heritage JrFuel.

Do you carry the temp gun in the car with you? or have a crew member there as you pull off?
How much peak temp do you lose waiting for the crew to show up?

Hi Jon,  track temp was 128, slick pressure was 7.0 on 12" rims...

This is a picture of mine with 6 lbs of air and from the look of the tire I think it needs a little more air . That run was a 1.07 60 ft . The next run we tried 6 1/4 in the tires and the 60 ft was a 1.04 but I can't honestly say it was the tire pressure or the track just got better . I am going to race again in a couple of weeks and try the higher pressure again .

I have found that if I'm looking for more tire speed I lower the tire pressure, if I'm looking for more bite I increase the the pressure, mostly by adjusting pressure just 1/4 lb.
Too much bite pulls the motor down below good HP RPM range.
I know allot of you guys don't have computers, but I always check peak driveshaft speed [ tire speed], and the ET for the peak.
 I log into my run sheets 20 bits of info, besides the weather, & ET slips, for each run. It helps for when I race at that track again and or weather conditions.
