D2585 Goodyears
jspell:
Anyone running the D2585 slicks experience the rollout changing over time causing a mismatch? At race pressure the set always taped darn near exact, now 1/2" difference.

Big show Teams hand out tires for the indi's to scrub in, tire guy then takes those tires and match pairs them to be used during elim's.
At our level 1/2" is not enough to worry about unless you listen to know-it-all people it the stands that have never owned a car. I buy a matched pair of "green" tires and put them on the car, burn them in and never once after that ran a tape around them, I cant afford to keep buying tires to match them up----It does not make any difference at our level, same goes with compound, after a couple of races and the sun beating down on them , they are all the same.
Racing does not have to be expensive--a racer just has to be smart about it

Thanks Bruce...I'm trying to solve a handling issue with my car...car ran each pass straight as an arrow...last 3 passes at different track location, car gradually is driving left? That's why I was looking at stagger. any thoughts?

That's one if the problems when running V (or opposed) configuration engines... left and right banks are producing uneven power! Try taking some timing off the right bank...
SORRY ;D

I have been using the 2585 tires and have not had any issues like you describe. 1/2" difference in circumference between the two tires would definitely concern me on a car as fast as yours. My opinion is 1/2" difference in circumference between the two tires would explain the car driving to one side. You may be able to "stretch" the smaller tire by over inflating during the week. It will be interesting to see what Jon Hansen has to say about this. I try to keep my tire pressures relatively equal at all times and mine are within 1/8". Make sure you are lined up straight and stay in the groove. Good luck!
