The between"launch and chute" may be true, but again the driver will not be able to hear at full throttle, unless it's a quite door car , but we are talking about FED's.
The main reason we have used radios is to talk the car back from the burn-out "wall, center" etc, stop. And to give the driver the ET, mph, Win, after the run, but before we get to him. One less crew member [ no BUG].
If you decide to cut down part of your body to see better, DON'T make your seat harness loose so you can turn around better, guys have gotten hurt with loose belts. See if you could use mirrors.
