Newby with some questions about FED's
(1/1)
kilroy1930:
Hey everybody, I'm very excited to be joining everybody racing and enjoying a FED. I have been hooked on these cars since i was a kid, and finally have the funds saved up to embark on this journey. I am hoping to race in a nostalgia eliminator class. I am currently looking at some cars on racingjunk and also if anybody has a car or knows anybody selling one i would definitely be interested. One of the cars I'm looking at is a 185" wheelbase car that has a 387 cubic inch injected small block. Says it runs 8.3's in the quarter. I contacted the owner and he stated that the car has about a 100 passes on it. They have done basic maintenance but nothing major. Is that a lot of passes for that engine? Is it time to go thru it? When do you guys start going thru your engines?
digster:
Welcome to FED
My 2 cents would be make sure the car has a current certification tag.
On the engine I'd only pay core price on it unless it is a "known engine".

Any time you are buying a used motor it would be wise to take it apart and take a good look at everything . Also to verify that the seller is giving you what he say's it is !

Ya the more research I do, the more I'm leaning towards a roller. Thanks for the feedback.
