Spud Miller:

Well good! That was our goal :)

 Thanks for the good words!

Rusty Kramer:
Spud, what is the type of wire you are recommending these days for a SM5 FIE Mag. Using an RPM datalogger.  I  Have been using the MSD super conductors I purchased from you.  working fine....

Also about how many runs on the coil wire and on the plug wires before replacing.

thanks!

Spud Miller:

We quit selling the MSD wire and started building our own sets from Taylor wire...their solid core wire for folks with no electronics and their 8.2mm Thundervolt 50 wire for people that need the suppression type. It's 40 ohms per foot vs. 50 for the MSD wire. It gives the same noise suppression with less resistance (more output). It's perfectly safe to run with any magneto.

Your MSD wires are fine. Coil wire life is determined by the number of passes you put on it in a year and the output of the mag. For your SMV, I'd say 50-75 passes just to be safe on the coil wire. 200-250 laps on the set should be fine assuming they aren't sliced or burned and the terminals are still ok. Record the impedance of each wire when new and check regularly. When you see a change or more than 3-5 ohms or so, replace.

Your thoughts on coil wire life using a MSD 12?
