That engine will make monster TQ
I have a tighter 8 inch built for big block like yours   I run small block so can't use it in my combo
I can send pix and info part numbers etc--will take $425 for it--in Jegs for about a grand
I was going to send it off and redo but better off to sell it and move on--came from a pal that switched combos and needed something different  Not knowing your TQ I would guess easy 5000-5500 with your combo  just right.

140" WB FED how far is the engine out 36" maybe? With a 540" injected BBC and 12" tires I have a feeling you are going to have problems keeping the front end down! I would pick one of the convertor manufacturers and see what they think. In my opinion you are going to need one of the soft hit converters.

That big of a motor on nitro, look at getting a bolt together 10" that's fairly tight, don't even try an 8" converter, you'll driver through it.

Maybe he can get it to work where the many others have tried and failed. You need the RPMS to climb up fast to have pump speed and fuel pressure at the hit, a tight converter is not the way to do it

8 inch
I have similar combo--I have a 6000  OK now remember  that is 6000 rated WITH my torque and combo--put it in different combo and it will act totally different--converters are like rubber bands--lay the torque to them and they are very different than if behind a milder combo--You need to consult a converter maker not guys on a forum--They will ask you a zillion questions and try to build a unit to work as best they can ---my experience is that dragsters and very light cars like ours are very different than launching a 3000 lb bracket car--in our deal LOOSE is GOOD!!  You just about can't get too loose--totally backwards from door car deal--Our cars love to have a super loose unit and..by being so light just about anything will work well in our cars--I have seen club members run within a few tenths with cheapo tight units and expensive custom units--The cars are easier to drive and seem to launch and act well with crazy loose units--it is all about the car weight

Kenny at PTC  (a great outfit ) will build you a very high quality converter for less than anyone and stand behind it----they also seem to understand dragsters
Many get them too tight
soft hit just means less tq multiplication I think  also good for our cars
Talk to the experts but if you get an 8 inch for a few hundo grab it and never look back

Also think about used units --they may or may not be set up for use with a plate and then thickness is an issue --you can space a std unit with washers etc and be fine  Coan makes a spacer kit with a piece for the hub as well --value priced as well
I have always had a fascination with fast cars at the expense of more normal character development

FTI is run by some smart guys--they have some very informative videos on Youtube about Powerglide pumps etc--I understand they build a great converter
I have always used Kenny at PTC for GM units--I Think JW, Coan, and Lupo all do nice stuff can't forget about ATI--they build form all new stuff no recycled cores and if you need a class winning super scienced unit they are hard to beat--think spragless on any custom you order--they are Tough but at a cost.
I ran a door car for over 25 years--the converter in a winning bracket car is THE key piece to the entire deal BUT..in a light weight dragster almost anything goes looser the better so that makes our lives much easier than door car guys by far! Continental on the west coast ( I am an east coast guy) builds super units too--I actually have one in my car now and just LOVE the darn thing--never bought form them new but..
