Help need a 6.40 for license
« on: August 01, 2015, 03:01:47 PM »
I was wandering how to drop a couple of tenths on an eighth mile pass. I need a 6.40 or quicker in the 1/8th for my last 2 license runs and I can only muster a 6.52. I am going to upgrade this winter but anyone know any tricks to gain a couple of tenths.  I ran a 1.42 60',  I ran a 10.27 @ 127mph in the quarter mile.   I thought about pulling  out the 16lbs of fire  system and going on a diet.   Just thought I wolud ask. Proly should wait till I have more power next year. It  is an old worn out 327, dart iron eagle heads,  850 holley,  with about 700 laps in my asphalt, modified on it.

Stage as shallow as you can that way you get moving and run at the beams before they start timing, a little more air pressure so that the tires dont wind up as much

If you have no nose piece you can add 30" from axle centerline and break beak sooner. Not a lot but its something gained.

know anyone with aluminum heads you can borrow? hundred pounds would be roughly .10 in quarter probably .06 in 1/8. alky carb if can borrow should be good for .05 to .10,but would need whole system with pump.

Agree with Paul . Way too much tire for your power level.

Not knowing your combination it is kind of hard to come up with idea's . A couple of things would be a little more timing like 2 degree's or advance the cam a little if you have the room . A looser converter or lower rear gear . Hope this helps . Bill

Run the front tire pressure as low as you dare. Will give you more roll out. Air up slicks till they spin a little. Yes more than 8.

Easiest thing a little 150or 200 shot.Should get you more than enough and for just cpl shots should be plenty safe. I have run 250 shot on bone stock street stuff not a problem.

Hey Ricardo, Have you been running your car ? Some of our NQS cars have run Bean Blossom. I believe Gayle Jenkins has the FED track record? Do you run any nitro? Are you a 4.99 or quicker car? We have a nice program and are always looking for some new blood. George

Guess not. Lol
