repair for PG case

Have a local guy who had a case bored for roller bearing for output . Seems who ever did id either let it move or did not indicate it correctly. Shaft is off center, easy to see whnn tial housing is on and its short shaft.Has to be more than I measured .015 off center or .030 more towards top.

He want me to bore it out, insert sleeve, weld and bore to fit bearing. I would rather just weld it up and remachine.Either way there is very little material left to work with. Told him I would check and see what few others thought would be best repair.Ok best would be new case.

Is it an after market or stock case? Not sure I would spend time trying to save a stock. Now the cost of a after market would lead me to give it a try. I would rebore it to center press in a solid slug and bore for a bearing. I would avoid welding for fear of case warping.

Can't you just buy that rear support with a roller bearing in it and bolt it on? I am learning about Glides

wideopen231:
Dave rear support has bearing but case normally has bushing thats can be replaced with bearing also. Might go the soile piece and bore to fit.Guess I could actually get it bored in ball park on lathe leaving .150 to bore once it.

Was worried about warpping with thinness of case.Yes its stock case. If had another case sitting here I would just do prep on it and bore right from get go.

bikeguy307:
If you want a stock case I can ship you one.
