power glide goes backward in low
« on: April 14, 2015, 05:08:03 PM »
took my just rebuilt pg out, first run seemed fine. 2ed time run,did burn out in high, backed up,all seemed well.put it in low to stage,it went backward!! trans linkage checked out.High and reverse are OK.trans brake not holding. Is this a band not working, checking adjustment later this week, what else should I check?

Band adjustment is easy so check it first, drop the fluid and inspect for debris. If the car backed up after the shifter was put in low, I think you have bigger problems than just the band. Possibly you have a cross leak in the valve body. Probably going to end up pulling it out and going through it again.

Hope this helps,
Dan

trans brake wired properly ?  what valve body do you have ? do you need the trans brake to select reverse ?
