On alky you can be rich and will not affect much, But with gas it will have to really be rich at idle because it does not have a excellerator pump to get things going so driving around part throttle  will be tricky

on alky the the only problem  was fueling when on a cruise now i'm working on updating his car changing cam lowering compression, increasing cooling  and now need the fuel system flowed and jetted for a starting platform to start from.and make sure everything is working properly

Being a street car, I'd convert it to EFI.

Before Id start changeing things on the engine I would gather more info on the fuel system, its a delicate balence and may be more trouble then just running out of fuel at a local cruise. The most successful versions have been a gear drive timing set and a hollowed out 6/71 case with a carb inside.  Have at it and wish you a lot of luck

I have done 3 of these on gas for street guys. While its workable the milage between gas stops sucks big time, mainly due to rich idle. I agree 100% that going to efi is the way to go. If guy works on EFI it should be snap for him.

Injected gas on the street is the worst possible combo. Very twitchy and sensitive. Generally either wheezing through the intake or belching black smoke at partial throttle...it's always wrong. If he puts an O2 sensor and AFR meter on it, at least he'll have a clue which way to go and by using several different bypass methods, may be able to get it close half the time. A dial-a-jet up through the floor to change pills on the fly for different cruise speeds is a popular way to try to conquer this.

Any of you guys ever see these videos or heard of Instajet?

I stumbled across this guy he seems to have pretty good luck running injection on the street. His car seems to run very well, might be worth looking into. It appears to be an electronic version of dial-a-jet. This would probably keep your hands freed up for driving.
