Is this PG worth selling
« on: January 07, 2015, 08:51:06 AM »
This power glide came with my dragster. Is it worth putting up for sale. It hasn't been used since 1979. This is what the guy who had it built said about it.

Hi Jeff, well it has been a minute or two, but I have a good memory.  case is from 62 Chevy II 4 cylinder.  Hub is from a 61or2 Corvette and has 8 clutches I think,  valve body by A1 Automatic in Van Nuys-"Marvin 2-speed" Ripes.  Probably passed on by now.  Trans brakes had not been invented yet.  The torque converter is not a racing unit, makes an excellent paperweight.  And as you are probably aware, the 'glide is so simple that is really all there is to tell.  Low-high shift was so hard and fast it spun the slicks.

Thanks
Jeff

Well all glides are worth something. Now how much, well there is the big question. For me without tearing it down it would be hard to give much more than core price for it. Lots of unknows to invest much in it. If it truly is a unit built in 79 it would be mostly stock and there for have lower value. So without tearing it down I would sell it at core price. If you could tear t down to verify up graded parts then you could adjust the price from there. Keep in mind its been sitting for a long time so it will need completly good thru before use.         Hope this helps, Dan
