Hi Glenn, Terry Lachapelle here, (slofomoco on the forum).

Here are some pix of my 69 200" moly FED as it was when I purchased it. The seller had done lots of work before I came along, he had plans to do more upgrades, some of which I liked. The FED is now on a rotisserie, mostly disassembled, Dan replaced the 6 bar mild steel cage with a moly 5 bar, it looks much better. I have pix of the progress.

 I would like to start a build thread, I was wondering if you would post the pix in there for me. Hopefully someone may recognize the car. Dan has a little info which I will post. Maybe one of these pix will make a good avatar?  thanx

#1 first thing that should be done is to get NHRA out there (or bring it to them) for tubing inspection. At that point they will give you a sheet of the required updates (if)needed and or if the tubing thickness is to thin. Its been a long time since that chassie has been run at any track or event that requires a chassie cert. There may be a reason, First indication is the lack of uprites between the foward seat uprite and the rear seat uprite, that spec has been in place for over 12 years now for dragsters

Other than that, looks nice

I appreciate the advice, will follow up on that. I know nothing about a FED, I have much to learn.

Its imperitive that you get a chassie inspection before you put any more time or money into it, chances are you are good with some minor updates,but if you find major issues then we can discuss your options

Yep, it wouldn't pass the kidney bar test, I bought one that didn't either, but that's not so hard to fix. Mine also fell a little short (.002) on the shoulder hoop wall thickness... live and learn...
Just keep the same amount of stuff on the right
as there is on the left. Seeing straight ahead is highly overrated....

I checked the SEMA tag today, kind of hard to read, but I think it has this inscribed on it.

EM 717

The NHRA 7.50 Chassis Cert has the numbers 10 & 13 punched.

I took  more pix, will post them soon. Dan bought the roller in Belleville, Ontario, Canada last year. I will contact the seller. The chassis is purple beneath the black.

SEMA Tag numbers---  If its 22 then its a CCE (Cal Chassie Engr---- Tuttle) The EM717 could be their own codeing.

SFI is  Oct 2013, But should of had the kindny uprights in by then. so its makes other things questionable, Get it out to cert to dblcheck.

Couple of things(well 3 to be exact)
1- Remove the push-bar mount off the spine bar uprite---could cause major injury if the car backs into the wall
2- Do not weld any steering componant that is already has chrome on it unless it had to be done in an emergencey to make the final round, If you have the time--do it right!
3- personal preference is to not have rod ends on the axle uprites and to use clevis's. Useing a clevis will direct the load down the center of the mount and will not allow the mount to twist whereas off to the side there is leverage and will twist the mount if it sees load.

The steering box cross member is also a little marginal. I presume that the black painted portion was added to comply with the full cross member rule (rather than the original plated half tube mount). Also not sure why the steering bell crank has the adaptor plate bolted to it for the tie rods as it looks as if it had a dogbone end on that arm.
