How I spent my Labor day
« on: September 01, 2014, 02:21:02 PM »
Spent a nice relaxing day working on my car . Playing with cam timing a little . When I degree the cam on an engine stand there is no valve spring pressure . This time I did it in the car with the rockers on and it changes it about 2 degrees . I advanced it 2 degrees and now it is where I thought it should be .

Wiring, wiring, wiring... MSD points box, 2 step, on/off switch, tach converter, shift light, trans brake, battery, neutral safety switch, Racepak, all the sensors, 2 way radio and air lines. That's how I spent my Labor Day.

It amazed me how much wire went into my dragster.

One more great thing about injection and mag. Heck of lot less wiring. No fuel pump to wire,no fan,no water pump and only go or no go ignition wire. Now the delay box, nitrous, rear light, data recorder, tach and temp gauge with 4 monitoring points thats a whole different story. MAn funny car was simple compared to this bracket racing crap. Also lot more cost with less reward. All I need to go back to heads up is MONEY!

I have never had anyone look for neutral safety. Around here if engine has diaper and your have money,go race.

Not required since there is no battery in the car and you shut them off with the fuel

So it is OK to run over the guy with the starter if the car happens to be in gear.  In Section 2.14 TRANSMISSION, Automatic/NHRA Accepted it states "Functional neutral safety switch mandatory." I don't see where a blower starter car is exempted.

I have control of the starter switch that is mounted to the starter along with the solinoid plus I signal the driver. The exact same way the "BIG SHOW" teams do it.Function of the neutral safety switch is only allow power to the start switch in either park or neutral to prevent the car from self starting

I would think that a neutral safety switch would be something you would want for the safety of all, even if not required.

I'm not required to run a blower bag, but I have one. Just common sense.

My batteries and starter button are external to the car too. The starter is mounted on the motor. The "neutral safety switch" on my deal is located on the tube shifter and it is wired so that the starter will crank ONLY if the transmission is in Park.
