Go to Neil and Parks website and look at their shifter, very small rotary shifter.

I second the N&P tube shifter. that is what i installed.

Hard to see but the only pic I have on my phone, I ran a B&M ratchet shifter mounted above the couple. You can see the knobs mounted on the rear end housing to push/pull. Skinny shifter not required. When I built this car I added a tub to my steering box cross member to mount the shifter to, this way the shifter is easily removed from the car during maintenance.
